True Victory: Elderly Holocaust Survivors Marry

Rabbi Hershy Drukman shares the touching story with Bechadrey Charedim. "The Kallah was orphaned at a very young age. She didn't know her parents and was raised in a French orphanage and was married off to a gentile. Her late husband died some ten years ago after which she established a connection with the Chabad House in Paris.

"The Chassan was imprisoned in death camps during the war and thankfully managed to escape. He eventually came to Paris where he married a gentile. His late wife died 10 years ago and he too also became acquainted with the Chabad House in Paris after losing his spouse.

"The couple very quickly established a relationship with one
another but never entertained the thought of actually getting officially married, but I convinced them that sanctifying their relationship with chuppah and kedushin would be the right thing to do. Neither one of them had any children from their previous marriage.

"The wedding was an exceptionally joyous event, which attracted a large group of estranged Jews who have also become inspired to reconnect with their roots.
"Finding lost Jews and returning their heritage to them is our goal."
