Fire broke out tonight (Wednesday), a short time ago at the Beis Midrash of London Av Beis Din, the Rav of Paduwa in Stamford Hill, London. There were no casualties but the library of the Beis Midrash caught fire and was severely damaged.
The fire broke out apparently as a result of a lit cigarette thrown into the kitchen of the Beis Midrash. But the fire spread to adjacent rooms too, including a room where the sifrei kodesh were kept.
The Beis Midrash of Rabbi Ephraim Paduwa, Av Beis Din Congregation Kedasia in London, is located on Keizenov Street in the center of Stamford Hill neighborhood. Firefighters were called to the scene and braved the fire.
