Director of a Hasidic yeshiva in Israel, in his 50s, who was currently in London to raise funds of his yeshiva - drowned to death today (Friday), when he dipped in the mikveh in Stamford Hill in London.
This is the mikveh of the Pinters Beis Midrash. Once the director collapsed in the water, apparently after undergoing a heart attack, rescue forces were dispatched to the scene who carried out CPR, and were able to extract a large amount of water from his body and regulate the heartbeat, but his condition was still defined critical.
After an hour of CPR he was taken to a local hospital, Hommerton in London, where he died.
Local police closed the Mikveh for further investigation.
