11 million illegal immigrants in the United States may obtain citizenship - according to a statement made by President-elect Obama yesterday during a press conference in Las Vegas. According to the president, "the Congress must promote an access which can deal with the millions of illegal immigrants."
President Obama was reelected two months ago for another term, largely thanks to the support of the Latin community in the state, which is home to many immigrants. In his words he called to promote a reform which will open to all those immigrants a new route that takes them citizenship.
A day earlier eight senators presented a comprehensive plan to change immigration laws. Obama supported the initiative and said: "Most of them are appropriate to the principles he promoted."
