Operation Obama • Record preparations for visit of American President in Israel

Thousands of police officers were recruited this evening for the arrival of U.S. President Barack Obama, tomorrow • U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, came early - landed in Israel, causing major traffic jams on Route 1 • Thousands in a rally in Jerusalem for the release of Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard, still imprisoned in the United States

Record preparations for the visit of U.S. President Barack Obama, Secretary of State, John Kerry has landed today (Tues.) in Israel.

In addition, tonight there was a demonstration of thousands in Jerusalem in front of the President's home, for the release of Jonathan Pollard, imprisoned in the United States.

U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry, landed at Ben Gurion Airport and Route 1 was closed from the airport to Ben Shemen, which opened at around 17:00pm. Heavy traffic disruptions are expected tomorrow in Jerusalem.

Tomorrow at 12:00 pm: "Air Force 1" plane with U.S. President Barack Obama and his entourage will land at Ben Gurion Airport. The sets are ready and preparations have been completed.

In recent days, an airlift came to Israel from the U.S.. Aircraft of the U.S. military cargo unloaded at the airport several tons of equipment including armored limousines, security vehicles, immune to fire and roadside bombs, and a fleet of 12 "Black Hawk" helicopters, a communications and satellite transmission equipment by which the visiting President could be in constant touch with anyone in his country and outside it. Together with Secret Service agents accompanying the President, came many weapons.

With regard to the safety of Barack Abama, the most threatened man in the world, no one takes risks. Certainly not the Israeli police, which will secure the Obama's convoy by 60 vehicles in which will be the SWAT team (special unit for fighting terror), Riot Police (Special Reconnaissance Unit), seven motorcycles, ambulances, mobile intensive care units and even fire trucks.

The operation will be accompanied by 400 members of logistics, in addition to 15 thousand police officers, provided with 50 thousand rations and 4,500 accommodation rooms in hotels and hostels, 1,500 per night.

At the airport all is ready for the arrival of the presidential plane. East of the port, two "Galaxy" planes were parked yesterday, of the U.S. Army, from which came out the helicopters, limousines and a host of equipment used by the U.S. delegation.

As of tonight, the operation will enter the last stretch. All Israeli police will work in two shifts of 12 hours each on all three days of the visit. At any given moment about 5,000 policemen will secure the President and his entourage.
